Salina Drug Store

While the era of the soda jerk was before my time, I long for the days on swively stools and flavored fountain drinks served by the cute boy behind the counter.

“The drugstore soda fountain was the backbone of Main Street USA from the time they made their appearance in the 1830’s through most of the 20th century. Most adults and children born during that great era affectionately recall the time they spent at the drugstore soda fountain sipping on a tasty Cherry Coke or root beer. Life was less complicated when a nickel or a dime could buy a soda fountain delight and always included sweet memories.” ~ Drugstore Museum

Recently, I stumbled across the Vintage Drug Stores group on Flickr which showcases images of vintage drugstores (circa 1950s and earlier, give or take a few decades). These are a few of my favorite images from the 1,277 in the group pool.
