A bit about Antonia…

We’re addicted to your DIY videos already, so let’s get to know you. Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Antonia Lawes. I own a Jewelery buisness called Miss Lawes. I am an artist, baker, ukulele player, youtuber and nail art lover,I am unhealthily addicted to shopping and I am a Benefit Cosmetics enthusiast. I am, of course, naturally a lover of vintage hair and makeup styles.

Who is your vintage style icon?
I would have to say my vintage style icon is Diana Dors. She was Britain’s equivalent to Marylyn Monroe but with far better hair styles + had the best eyebrows in the whole of England! I use this look as the base of my everyday makeup.

How did you become interested in retro hair + makeup? Do you style yourself this way often?
Other than Diana Doors, I would have to say that my Nan is my inspiration for my vintage addiction. One of my earliest memories was of my Nan teaching me how to roll my hair up into rag curls like she did when she was a child. (Below is a picture of my Nan sporting some impossibly tight finger waves)

What are some of your favorite vintage/thrift store haunts in your neck of the woods?
I wouldn’t say I always wear vintage clothing, but I tend to buy a lot of High Street clothing in vintage styles. I love to search for online vintage inspired clothing stores. I have recently discovered a store inspired by vintage clothing called Miss Patina London. There are also some really cute boutiques in Leigh on Sea where my boyfriend lives. Very convenient! :)

When it comes to cosmetics you really can’t beat Benefit! Everytime I apply the makeup, the smells and feel of the
products make me feel as if i am as indulgent as a 50′s pin up.
